How does BodyTalk work?

Our bodies are created with an in- built innate mechanism to initiate the healing process. If we twist our ankle or cut ourselves, the body immediately sets up a process to start healing the wound. The healing occurs at several levels - physical, emotional, and mental. This may seem rather trivial but has important ramifications and constitutes a basic premise within the Body Talk healthcare system.

The BodyTalk System facilitates communication with the innate wisdom of the body by using neuromuscular feedback. The BodyTalk practitioner follows a comprehensive protocol of questions. This allows for establishing exactly what balancing the body needs, and in which order of priority the body mind functions need to be harmonized.

The client and/or practitioner touch the parts that need correcting, and the practitioner then gently taps the head of the client in order to focus the brain to "fix" the faulty communication circuit . This activates the brain and helps to facilitate the body's own ability to restore and maintain its optimum health. Scientific experiments with biofeedback apparatus show that when this tapping occurs while specific parts are being touched, there is a major increase in brain activity in relation to those parts.

The practitioner then lightly taps on the sternum to "save" the corrected energy circuit in the heart centre. This tapping ensures that the new balance is held in deep memory and is, therefore, lasting. The heart is responsible for communicating the state of the body's health to the rest of the body through the heart beat. Clinical results have shown that once the communications systems of the body have been reestablished and the body mind complex synchronized, the body is capable of healing itself at a deep and lasting level.

Thus, instead of diagnosing and treating symptoms, BodyTalk activates the power of the body's innate healing mechanism leading to enhanced balance of the whole body mind complex. Most clients immediately notice a greater sense of well-being and relaxation after the treatment. They feel more at peace with themselves and often report sleeping better, having more energy and feeling more balanced.

What happens in a BodyTalk session?

During your first appointment you will fill in a comprehensive medical history form and discuss with your practitioner what you would like to address during your BodyTalk session.

The BodyTalk practitioner will use muscular feedback from your body while following a comprehensive protocol chart and exploring procedure to determine which of the many communication links within your body require to be balancing. Your own body (i.e. the biofeedback that the practitioner receives from you) will be guiding the practitioner to the areas that are prioritized to be balanced.

The practitioner lightly touches on areas that have been highlighted while working through the protocol, then gently taps across both hemispheres of the brain and on the heart energy complex which alerts the brain to the problem and the heart to store the changes, and your body uses this new information to initiate its own healing processes.

If your body indicates that you would benefit from consulting another health modality, such as visiting a GP or an acupuncturist for example, this will be identified as your practitioner works through the BodyTalk Protocol chart and you will be advised accordingly.

If the Practitioner has skills in other Therapies and your body wants them in the session they will also be addressed through the protocol chart.

The BodyTalk system is gentle and non-invasive. There are no supplements, medication, diagnosing, painful techniques or machinery used. Clients remain clothed throughout the session lying comfortably on a massage table.

The sessions are usually scheduled for 1 hour, although the actual length of the treatment is determined by your own body and will vary from session to session.

Commonly felt sensations during a BodyTalk session include feeling warm or cold, a general feeling of calmness and relaxation spreading through the body, a sudden need to express an emotion such as laughing or crying, and abdominal gurgling as energy is released from the diaphragm.

At the end of the session, the practitioner asks your body if a follow-up session is required, and when the optimum date for the follow-up would be. The choice of whether to book another appointment is entirely yours. Depending on your condition, your next session may be the next day, the following week, or in a month's time.

A BodyTalk session is just the beginning. BodyTalk stimulates your body to do what it was born knowing - how to heal itself. This process will continue for some time after your BodyTalk session as your body works through the changes necessary to return you to a state of optimal physical, mental and emotional health.
